After Franco

Wood, watercolor and Aluminum

58.5”x 14” x 14”

2014

$5000

After Franco I begin to feel Hispanic culture being related to the exhibition. I see a young man in his underwear hovering over a severed head from a bull. My first impression is that the black hole in the man’s chest is from being impaled by the bull’s horn, in which he severed the head from. The idea of having a burnt looking spot inside of the man’s chest appears to show weakness. While the man has an indifferent facial expression, I sense a field of anger and remorse in this piece. The colors, and hue of the figures all bring attention back to the bulls head and the black spot on the man’s chest. Everything appears smooth, until it is texturized on the man’s right breast.

Radio Tower

Wood and Watercolor

24”x 8” x 14.5”

2015

$4000

My first impression of this piece was a type of imprisonment of an innocent bystander. Or possible a suicide attempt with black paint covering the identity of a lost soul. But of course my eyes are most attracted to the bright orange hue, almost like a jail suite. With this piece I see a sea of thoughts for the artist for sure. It is marvelous workmen’s ship, each joint is smooth down, as if there isn’t any edges to the piece. Presumable some gluing may have been involved. It’s defiantly a piece one has the desire to touch but can only look

Finally Free Miss T.

Wood Water Color 57.75” x 7.5” x 7”

2014

$5000

Finally Free Miss T. is a wood cut piece presenting a woman with closed eyes and a frustrated grimace. She is wearing a white head dress along with a blue sun dress. I find this piece interesting because it looks like this woman has come over obstacle to get to where it is she wants to be. Maybe a mother, single wife with the struggles of keeping food on the table. The figure of this piece is very precise and smooth, which is appealing to the eye.
