Art Event 1

Kent Bellows mentoring program
April 22, 2016

An art show dedicated to student art work I selected three pieces that I had favored the most. With context and color theory appreciation, I found this art work the most favorable.

Carmen Elena Lara
Bittersweet
Acrylic on Wood
$80
Focusing on the image above this artist was able to capture a two dimensional picture on a 4 dimensional object, The work in the wood really helps to bring focus out on the art piece it self, including color choice and context.
Luke Matt
Heavy is the head
Digital Painting
60$
This piece defiantly caught my eye sense it also relates
to digital art work, a very comic book style and
text condoning a message
really keeps the viewer think what the meaning of the peace is
defiantly great contour of the characters features
Sophie Donahue
Which bird are you?
Acrylic canvas
$100
This piece is my favorite using the color theory and vertical
along with curing lines that all focus on one shape and one subject I believe these is a very hallucinogenic drawing, really captures the viewer's attention.

After Franco

Wood, watercolor and Aluminum

58.5”x 14” x 14”

2014

$5000

After Franco I begin to feel Hispanic culture being related to the exhibition. I see a young man in his underwear hovering over a severed head from a bull. My first impression is that the black hole in the man’s chest is from being impaled by the bull’s horn, in which he severed the head from. The idea of having a burnt looking spot inside of the man’s chest appears to show weakness. While the man has an indifferent facial expression, I sense a field of anger and remorse in this piece. The colors, and hue of the figures all bring attention back to the bulls head and the black spot on the man’s chest. Everything appears smooth, until it is texturized on the man’s right breast.
